Bar & Restaurant news

We’re excited to see some new bars and restaurants have recently opened up around Clapham. The Cinnamon is a stylish new bar and cocktail lounge in Clapham Old Town serving cocktails, craft beers and Asian cuisine. We can’t wait to try! Other relative newbies include cocktail bar Brick and Liquor in Clapham South and over in Clapham North Red Dog Saloon plus Sushi O’Clock take-out on Clapham Common Southside. For the best steak around – dry aged on site – try Macellaio RC which opened at 124 Northcote Road this summer.

Special offers:

Gigalum is showing the Autumn International Rugby matches live on the big screen every weekend throughout November. Even better,  anyone who mentions Totally Clapham at the bar on any of the match days will receive 2 for 1 on Kronenbourg bottles and 2 for 1 on glasses of Prosecco.

Book your Christmas party meal before 30 November 2017 at Fixed restaurant on Northcote Road SW11 and receive a free bottle of wine for every four people dining from the Christmas set menu. The menu is just £23.95 per person for 3 courses plus a welcome glass of prosecco. Terms & Conditions apply. The Christmas set menu is available from 20 November 2017 until 7 January 2018 – must be pre-booked.

Now’s it’s November we’ve decided it’s ok to mention Christmas, snow and winter – which is just as well because Winterville is coming to Clapham Common from 23 November – 1 January, noon – 10pm daily. There will be Clapham Common’s first ever ice rink plus street food, film screenings of Christmas classics, crazy golf, fairground, roller disco and a Christmas market. There’s also an opening weekend set from Norman Jay and free music shows. Ticketed shows include Cirque du Cabaret and Mexican Wrestling. See their website for details.

The Trinity Hospice Christmas fair organised by Wandsworth friends of Trinity Hospice is on Wednesday 15 November 8.30am-3.30pm, £5 admission, at St Luke’s Church. It is a great way to support an important local cause and always has a good selection of stalls.

Northcote Road Christmas market and lights: Saturday 25 November 4.30pm-7.30pm with carol singing, Father Christmas, food & drink and market stalls.

Theatre, comedy & magic

There is plenty of music, theatre and performance on at Omnibus this Autumn but The Trap caught our eye –  a biting new comedy about the financial perils of a capitalist world. Tickets are £15 and it runs until 19 November.

Battersea Arts Centre has an exciting selection of Christmas comedy coming up next month that’s likely to get booked up fast. Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Adam Riches performs from 4-9 December, there’s a comedy show on 11-16 December from John Kearns – donning his trusty fake teeth and wig! – and the physical comedy trio Sleeping Trees from 18-23 December.

Critically acclaimed Scottish magician Kevin Quantum is making his London debut with a one-off show at the Clapham Grand on Saturday 2 December. The show ‘Quantum Magic’ combines magic with science and comedy to create a spectacular show. Tickets will sell fast!

We were very sad to see JZD close its doors after 18 years in Clapham. We now have to head over to Northcote Road for independent and interesting clothing stores. Fortunately there are a few newcomers too – Made the Edit shoe shop has just moved into new premises at 79 Northcote Road and pop-up shop byRosita – good value women’s fashion – is at the corner of Battersea Rise and St John’s Road SW11. If vintage is more your thing, there’s a vintage pop-up shop Viva Soul London specialising in vintage fashion and home wares, at JP Art Gallery on Battersea Rise.

A lovely new online shop Les Petit Anges has also just launched selling children’s clothing and is offering Totally Clapham readers free shipping / postage with your first order. • Thanks for the shout out Totally Clapham!
MiniJam is run by professional session musicians. We like to think we have a rather funky take on musical education. Classes & Gigs run throughout Clapham, Battersea, Balham and Wandsworth.

    **November Offer** –
Babies come free when they come in Threes (bring 2 friends and come to MiniJam for free!).
We also offer half price “Bring a friend” vouchers to those who come in pairs.
