Summer fairs, festivals and fetes around Clapham 2017

It’s that time of year again – plenty of fairs, festivals and fetes around Clapham this summer. Get in touch if you know of any others. It’s free to be listed.


Common People at Clapham Bandstand, Sat 27 May, 11am-4pm. Community event with stalls, activities, music, dance and spoken word on the Bandstand and a celebration of food growing. Concerts at the bandstand will continue fortnightly until Sunday 3 September from 3pm with everything from Cuban music to a local community choir, brass band, jazz and dance.


Balham Literary Festival, 8-11 June at The Bedford pub Balham. Author visits, talks, workshops and a pop-up bookshop from Dulwich Books.

St Paul’s Church Clapham, Summer Fair, Sat 10 June, noon-4pm, with stalls, tombola, competitions, music and food.

Ritherdon Road Street Party, Sun 11 June, 11am-5pm, Ritherdon Road SW17. There’s always a fun, friendly vibe at this annual event in Balham. Plenty of stalls plus live music and BBQ. The local eating places and shops will also be open.

SoLo Craft Fair Sun 11 June, noon-5pm at Balham Bowls Club, Ramsden Road SW12. Over 30 independent traders plus live music and workshops.

Battersea Park Dog Show, Sunday 18 June in support of Armed Forces Day. Full details on their website.

The Furzedown Festival in Tooting is from 9- 25 June and one of the main events will be The Big Day Out on Sat 17 June at Furzedown Rec, Chillerton Road SW17. It’s a great day out for all the family – live music, street food, bars, stalls and free or inexpensive activities for kids.

Abbeville Fete, Sat  24 June, noon-4pm, Abbeville Road, Clapham SW4 – a popular, family event which raises money for local charities.  Over 80 stalls plus BBQ and bar, live music, kids’ zone and the much-loved dog show.

Balham Comedy Festival, 30 June – 8 July at The Bedford pub. Details to follow.


Falcon Road Heritage Festival SW11 (near Clapham Junction) Sat 1 July. Music, dance, circus skills, stalls, food, fire station open day, children’s activities plus bouncy castle.

Two Brewers street party, Sat 1 July, 1-9pm, Prescott Place SW4. Always a fun event! Details to follow.

Streatham Festival, 1-9 July– various locations around Streatham. Music, dance, performance, art, comedy, workshops and activities.

Laugh Train Home Edinburgh Preview comedy festival: 5-26 July at the Four Thieves pub Lavender Gardens Battersea SW11.  Dates include 5, 9-13 and 26 July. Early tickets £7, advance £8-10, on door £10. Tickets sold out last year so book early.

Urban Art Fair, 8-9 July, Josephine Avenue, Brixton. A hugely popular art event with over 200 exhibitors displaying their art along the street, plus street food stalls.

Let’s Rock London is back on Sat 15 July on Clapham Common with all your ’80s favourites including Human League, Sister Sledge, Howard Jones and many more.

Northcote Road Summer Fete, Sunday 16 July 11am-6pm in Battersea SW11 a very popular event with stalls all along Northcote Road plus fairground rides, live music and performances and, as always, the Wimbledon Mens’ Final shown on a huge screen.

Lambeth Country Show, Sat 15 & Sun 16 July, noon – 8pm in Brockwell Park. Stalls, food and drink, fairground rides, live music and much more. A huge event – over 170,000 people attended last year. Definitely worth a visit – and it’s free.

Foodstock Battersea Park, Sat 15 & Sun 16 July: two days of food, drink and music with stalls, fine dining, street food, workshops, farmers’ market, live music and children’s area.


Tooting Blues & Folk Festival Sat 5 August. More details to follow.

Tickets are on sale for South West 4 music festival on Clapham Common on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August…

Followed by… House of Common – back on Clapham Common on Bank Holiday Monday 28 August with Madness and guests including De La Soul, David Rodigan are The Skatalites, Craig Charles and more. Tickets on sale now at £35 each.
