Clapham Community Links

We are lucky in Clapham (and surrounding areas) to have such a strong community of people who care about their local area and want to organise events to make living in Clapham a better experience.  Here are some of our local societies, community groups, forums, volunteers and organisations.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home – 4 Battersea Park Road, SW8 4AA. T: 0843 509 4444 (Calls cost 5p per minute from a BT landline, mobile charges may vary. All income donated from these calls will go towards the care of the dogs and cats at Battersea).

Clapham Model Yacht Club – the only London club south of the Thames, based at the Long Pond on Clapham Common

Clapham NCT – offers information and support in pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood to all parents to give them the opportunity to make informed decisions

Clapham Park Project – information and support for the Clapham Park area

The Clapham Society – aims to improve the quality of local life in Clapham and strengthen its identity and sense of community. They meet regular at the Omnibus (see below)

Friends of Clapham Common – the Friends of Clapham Common has been working on behalf of Clapham’s residents to improve its maintenance and enhance its facilities

Nappy Valley Net – the mums’ guide to South West London plus a very active community forum – local mums asking and answering questions on just about everything from advice on nurseries to where to find a good plumber!

Omnibus Clapham – set up by a group of people passionate about theatre and music. After much hard work, they have set up a local arts centre in the old Clapham Library building to include music, theatre, exhibitions, talks, children’s activities and food and drink. See website for latest events.

Pop Choir – a no-audition fun choir held in the Lower Hall, Clapham Manor Primary School, Belmont Road, Clapham, SW4 0BZ, 3 minutes from Clapham Common tube station. Tuesday 8-9.30pm.

South London Choir meets at Ravenstone Primary School, Ravenstone Street, Balham SW12 9SS every Tuesday 7.30-9.30pm. Non-auditioning. Contact: 07837 374705

South West London Law Centrelocal charity that runs free legal advice sessions four evenings a week at Battersea Law Centre

Wandsworth Cycling Campaign – for the benefit of everyone who cycles or might cycle in and through the borough of Wandsworth.

The Wandsworth Society – a voluntary group concerned with the quality of landscape, transport & planning in and around Wandsworth Town & Wandsworth Common
