Cocktail Bars in Clapham

We can’t pretend to have tried all the cocktail bars in and around Clapham but here are a few of our favourites. Of course, plenty of local pubs and bars serve good cocktails but we’ve picked out some places where the cocktail vibe is just a little bit different…

If you fancy having a go at creating your own cocktail concoctions, why not try a masterclass? See our post for local cocktail making classes.

The Jam Tree
13-19 Old Town, Clapham, SW4 0JT, T: 020 3397 4422
The Jam Tree is a big, buzzy bar that’s popular with a young crowd so it can get pretty lively at weekends. Good cocktail list plus an attractive garden which is open until 9.30pm (available for hire too).

Powder Keg Diplomacy
147 St John’s Hill, Battersea SW11 1TQ, T: 020 7450 6457
There’s a colonial/Victorian theme going on here including cocktail recipes resurrected from long forgotten recipes – although very much 21st century in terms of quality and presentation. There’s a small restaurant too which we haven’t tried but have heard it’s good. A quirky, eclectic and friendly place that is popular with locals.

46 Battersea Rise, Battersea, SW11 1EE, T: 020 7228 7676
We won’t deny that Rise46 is small but that’s part of its charm. The theme is 1920s and you can even have your cocktails served in a tea service in case the Prohibition police are in the neighbourhood. Regular live music and DJ sets too.

SO.UK Clapham
165, Clapham High St, Clapham, London, SW4 7SS, T: 020 7622 4004
Award-winning SO.UK is a funky late-night DJ bar serving mezze sides and platters (Thursdays – Saturdays 6-10pm) and innovative cocktails. You can pre-book an area for 12 people or more and receive either a complimentary bottle of champagne or something similar (T&Cs apply).

Southsider Cocktail Bar
56 Battersea Rise, Battersea, SW11 1EG, T: 020 7223 4217
The decor is all cosy booths, exposed brickwork and moody lighting in this small, buzzy bar. Experimental cocktails are the thing here – how about a Clap-Town Mule (Gin with cranberry and ginger spiced soda pop) or a Tibetan Butter Tea: butter-washed black tea and spiced rum? Happy hour 5-8pm every night.

126 St John’s Hill, Battersea, London, SW11 1SL, T: 020 3538 2250
A Totally Clapham follower has recommended this eclectic cocktail bar up the hill from Clapham Junction station (with a branch in Earlsfield too). Great DJs on Fridays and Saturdays until 2am, an extensive cocktail list plus there’s no hire charge – whether you’re a party of 4 or 140! (Just a deposit to secure your booking).

55-57 The Pavement, Clapham Old Town, Clapham SW4 0JQ, T: 020 7498 9128
Located below Del’Azziz, Zahara is an atmospheric late night bar, complete with twinkling lights, cosy seating and a Middle Eastern them. The drinks menu includes well known favourites and signature cocktails. Great place for a party too!

Most of the local DJ bars in Clapham also have good cocktail menus: Gigalum, Aquum, Adventure bar and Revolution to name but a few. Plus of course, the Be At One cocktail bars. See our bars listing for local pubs and bars. And don’t forget to let us know if we’ve missed out your favourite.
