The councils of the London Boroughs of Wandsworth and Lambeth have fairly strict definitions of where Clapham starts and finishes - and some of the most obviously "Clapham" locations are not really in Clapham at all. For example, Clapham Junction itself is actually in Battersea!

So instead of getting caught up in official boundaries, we decided to represent the area that everyone who lives there knows as Clapham - so that includes Clapham Junction, Clapham South, Clapham North, Clapham Common and of course Clapham Old Town - and we do stray into neighbouring areas when there's good stuff to report.

Did you know the Clapham Road is a relic of the occupation of Britain by the Roman Empire, which started in 43 BC?

Clapham Junction is Europe's busiest train station, with over 2000 trains passing through every day.

Clapham North tube station and Clapham Common tube station both opened in June 1900 as part of an extension of the City & South London Railway.

Wealthy local businessmen and religious philanthropists of the "Clapham Sect" were instrumental in the campaigns that led to the outlawing of the Atlantic slave trade in 1807.

Clapham Rovers football club won the FA Cup in 1880...!
